PhD student position at IMBB, Heraklion, Crete

In the context of the European network SCENTINEL "Building integrative single cell omics capacities using invertebrate tumor models relevant to human disease", we are offering one graduate PhD student position in the Delidakis lab at IMBB to study neural tumours in Drosophila. The position is funded for two years with the possibility of extension.

Candidates will be involved and trained in Drosophila handling and genetics, immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging, genomics assays (bulk and single-cell) as well as bioinformatics analysis. Candidates will also contribute in establishing RNA-FISH protocols and will explore other novel technologies for an all-encompassing understanding of tumours with defined genetic insults.

We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist, with excellent writing and presenting skills in English, willing to contribute in a collaborative and sharing spirit within a vibrant European network: partners are Angela Giangrande (IGMBC, Strasbourg), Nikos Konstantinides (IJM, Paris), Mattias Mannervik (Stockholm University), Camille-Stephane Otto-Attolini & Freddy Monteiro (IRB, Barcelona). See @scentinel_eu (website under construction).

Prior experience in Drosophila work is not a prerequisite but will be considered a plus. The successful applicant will be assisted in applying for personal fellowships during this time, visit partners labs and present at international conferences.
