Postdoctoral position at MIA, Coimbra, Portugal

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral researcher to join the research group headed by Dr Alessio Vagnoni at the Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing (MIA), University of Coimbra (https://www.uc.pt/mia/). The successful applicant will join a dynamic and collaborative research group interested in the cell biology of neuronal ageing, with a particular focus on intracellular trafficking mechanisms underpinning ageing and neurodegeneration.

The project builds on a substantial body of unpublished data focused on intracellular trafficking and the biophysical properties of the neuronal cytoplasm. Experience working with Drosophila is essential as it is a PhD (awarded or near completion) in relevant scientific subjects (e.g., neurobiology, cell biology). Experience with live cell microscopy is desirable, although not essential. Evidence of the ability to lead or make significant contributions to research projects, demonstrated through publications in scientific journals or preprint servers (current or forthcoming), will be considered a strong asset.

The position is available for an initial term of 2 years.

Applications

Interested candidates should send a CV, a statement of research interests, and the contact details of at least two referees to Alessio Vagnoni (alessio.vagnoni@uc.pt). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with selection expected to be completed as soon as a suitable candidate is identified.
