The research group of Christian Dahmann at the TU Dresden, Germany, offers a position as Postdoc in the area of Developmental Biology starting at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to two years with the option of extension and offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification.

The research group investigates the molecular, cellular and biophysical mechanisms underlying epithelial morphogenesis in animal development using Drosophila as a model system (e.g. Guerra Santillán et al. (2024) PRX Life, 2, 013004; Töpfer et al. (2024) Cell Reports 43, 114399; Sui and Dahmann (2024) Developmental Cell, 59, 1794-1808).

Tasks: In this DFG-funded project, the role of the extracellular matrix and the actin cytoskeleton during the folding of epithelia (Drosophila wing imaginal discs) will be analyzed using genetic, optogenetic, cell biological and RNA sequencing methods. Moreover, cell behavior during this morphogenetic process will be investigated using modern microscopic techniques and computer-assisted quantitative image analysis.

Requirements: excellent university and PhD degree in the field of Biology, Biochemistry or a related subject; strong knowledge in molecular genetics and cell biology; strong interest in developmental biology; experience with confocal microscopy and Drosophila is desirable.
