The Weavers Group at the University of Bristol is recruiting a Post-doctoral Research Associate, to join a Wellcome Trust-funded programme aimed at uncovering the dynamic cell biology supporting tissue function and repair. 

Our group studies the cellular mechanisms that enable tissues to thrive, particularly under physiological and environmental challenge. Here, we will probe how cell biology is precisely patterned across vulnerable tissues, and why its dysregulation drives ageing and disease. This work builds on our recent findings showing how stress responses and metabolism are coordinated across healthy and damaged tissues (e.g. Holcombe & Weavers Nature Communications 2023). 

You will contribute to a multidisciplinary programme combining in vivo studies in Drosophila (with live-imaging, genetics, molecular cell biology, spatial ‘omics), with innovative technologies and collaborative works on mammalian and human tissue. Our work spans multiple biological scales - linking the molecular cell biology of individual cells to the health of whole living tissues and organisms.

The Position is available for three years in the first instance, with potential extension, and offers strong opportunities for collaboration and career development.
