The type of personal information we collect
We currently collect and process the following information:
• Name, email, job title, institution, institutional address, research interests, research methods.

How we get the personal information and why we have it
The personal information we process is provided to us directly by you when you register.


We use the information that you have given us in order to:
• Send you emails to keep you informed of key news concerning the European Drosophila community such as European Drosophila Society elections or dates for the European Drosophila Research Conference. We undertake to keep these emails to a minimum.
• Allow you to place a pin for your lab on our interactive map of European Drosophila Research laboratories (https://europeandrosophilasociety.org/interactive-map)
• Allow you to post job openings or news items on our web site.
• Allow you and other registered European Drosophila Society members to search our directory of European Drosophila researchers. We will not share this information with other organisations/individuals.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful base we rely on for processing this information is:
- Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time.

Once logged in, you can enter the editing menu and select “cancel account” at the bottom of the page.

How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored in the hosting platform that we use to host our site. Your information is stored for the duration of your membership to the European Drosophila Society. You can terminate your membership at any time (see removing your consent above). We will then dispose your
information by permanently removing your account from the website with all its associated content such as news, jobs etc which you have posted to the website.

Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
