Postdoc position in growth control in Drosophila (Montpellier, France)

A two-year postdoctoral position funded by the french ATIP-Avenir programme is available in our newly established team to work on growth control during development. Located at the CRBM in Montpellier, our lab aims to unravel the mechanisms controlling final organ size during normal development and in the face of developmental perturbations. Using the Drosophila melanogaster model, the postdoctoral researcher will combine genetic, microscopic, and transcriptomic approaches to investigate how organs and organisms compensate for abnormal tissue growth. The project will shed light on fundamental mechanisms ensuring the robustness of organ size and may have an impact on our understanding of certain pathological conditions.

Environment

The researcher will benefit from the dynamic context of a young team established at the Centre de Recherche en Biologie cellulaire de Montpellier (CRBM), which counts 19 research teams with a wide range of topics and model organisms (https://www.crbm.cnrs.fr/). Located on the historic CNRS "Route de Mende" campus in Montpellier, the CRBM benefits from the geographical proximity of several institutes, creating a stimulating and international environment. CRBM laboratories have access to state-of-the-art platforms, notably in imaging, through BioCampus. Finally, Montpellier is a great place to live: a dynamic city with a beautiful environment (Mediterranean Sea, natural parks, ...).

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD in developmental biology, cell biology, genetics or a related field. Motivation, creativity, independence and good ability to interact with colleagues and collaborators are the most important criteria.

Experience in one of the following fields is highly desirable:

- Drosophila genetics

- Fluorescence microscopy and image analysis

- Transcriptomics (single-cell RNA sequencing)

- Molecular biology/Crispr for transgenic line generation

A good level of spoken and written English is required, French is not mandatory.
