2 postdoc positions in Ghavi-Helm team at IGFL Lyon
The "Developmental epigenomics" team (www.ghavihelmlab.com) led by Yad Ghavi-Helm at the Institute of Functional Genomics of Lyon (IGFL) is recruiting 2 postdoctoral researchers. The team focuses on the regulation of gene expression and the organization of chromatin during the embryonic development of Drosophila. It is funded by an ERC Starting Grant until October 2023.
The IGFL fosters an outstanding international environment at the interfaces of evolution, development, and integrative physiology using functional genomics, bioinformatics, genetics, and comparative approaches. The institute is housed in a new building at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) of Lyon within the vibrant research community of the Lyon Gerland campus. Lyon, the "gastronomic capital" of France, is a modern and dynamic city, with rich cultural and sports offerings. It's an international transportation hub (< 2h from Paris or Marseille with high-speed train, 1h drive from the Alps).
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates with a strong interest in gene expression regulation and/or developmental biology. The candidates will develop their independent research question within the scope of the ERC Enhancer3D project.
Practical expertise in one or more of the following technologies would be a plus:
- (Single-cell) genomics
- Spatial transcriptomics
- Flow cytometry
- Drosophila genetics
The working language of the team and the institute is English. Excellent written and communication skills are required.
Contract start date: flexible between July 2021 and January 2022
Contract duration: 1 year, renewable. The candidates will be expected to apply for independent funding and will be provided assistance and mentoring during the application process.
Applicants should apply through the CNRS job portal (https://bit.ly/3rvcsZu). You will need to submit a CV including contact details for 2-3 referees and a cover letter including a concise description of past scientific achievements and academic goals. For informal enquiries about the position, please contact Yad Ghavi-Helm (firstname.lastname@example.org).
